People Of Color Por La Cultura: Celebrating Culture & Diversity

on

Have you been loving all of the new summer collections? We have! We're excited to announce yet another fun collection from People of Color called Por La Cultura! It was curated by Josephie (@polish_talk) & Cas (@caspernails). The colors were designed to represent different aspects of their culture and we are totally here for it! For those of you who may be unfamiliar, People of Color is a small indie nail brand that curates colors and collections designed to complement various shades of brown skin. Their products are vegan, non-toxic & cruelty-free! Let's take a closer look at the collection.

People Of Color: Por La Cultura Spring/Summer 2021 Collection:

 People Of Color - Abuela

Abuela
(a bright tangerine orange shimmer)

This bright orange was selected by curators Josephine & Cas because it reminded them of what they would see at their Abuela's (grandmother's) house whenever they visited.

People Of Color - Comida Frita, Hecho Con Amor

Comida Frita, Hecho Con Amor
(a bright yellow shimmer with black glitter)

This yellow shimmer represents all your favorite comida frita (fried food). As curator Cas says, "like friend stuff with the little darker burnt spots and char like from the grill." That is what this color represents. Think about tortillas, corn, and more when you're wearing this fun color!

People Of Color - Drinks On Me

Drinks On Me
(a mint green creme)

This minty color was inspired by the look of a frosted mint margarita. It makes for the perfect transitional color from spring to summer, especially if you're not really into bright, bold colors. Mint green continues to be one of the popular nail colors during this time of year and we're excited for this one!

People Of Color - La Playa

La Playa
(a bright aqua blue creme)

Think of your ideal getaway destination. This gorgeous blue represents the beautiful coastlines and beaches that remind us of the perfect vacation.

People Of Color - Low & Slow

Low & Slow
(a bright fuchsia pink shimmer)

This bold color was inspired by Gypsy Rose, a famous lowrider from East Los Angeles, California. For those of you who want a quick history lesson, in the 1960s, Jesse Valadez and his brother founded The Imperials car club in Los Angeles. At this time, the lowrider trend was still new. Valadez's first version of the Gypsy Rose began its life as a 1960 Chevrolet Impala.

People Of Color - Vestidos Trasicionales

Vestidos Tradicionales
(a confetti topper)

This gorgeous confetti-like topper looks great on its own or can be layered on top of any of the other colors to create a unique and colorful look. The colors in this polish were inspired by the beautiful colors typically seen in traditional clothing & textiles found throughout Hispanic and Latin American cultures.
